Kidepo Valley National Park is a 1,442 square kilometres (557 sq mi) national park in the Karamoja region in northeast Uganda. Kidepo is rugged savanna, dominated by the 2,750 metres (9,020 ft) Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers. Most of the park is open tree savannah rewarding you witha  a true African game drive experience. while on a game drive in Kidepo you may encounter large herds od buffaloes, Elephants, kobs , lions, and lots of birds and a cultural  encounter with the Karmojong people. Kidepo is one of the few places where you will find ostriches.

Day 1
Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

Early morning you will be picked up from a place of your convenience or as agreed and depending the choice of transport to use you either will be transfered to the airport in time to catch your domestic flight that departs Entebbe at 1230hrs. you may arrive in Kidepo at about 1445hrs upon which you will be met by our representative and transfered to your accommodation facility to check in. later in the afternoon you may take a ggame ddrive as you also en joy a beautifull sunset on the rugged hill. if you decide to travel by road the distance is quite long and the roads not so good. if you ave the ability, you may start the rdrive very early in the morning and make it in the evning to Kidepo Valley. the other option is to drive to Kitgum and spend the night there, and continue the next day in time for a morning game drive.

Day 2
Day 2: Kidepo

Dawn drive to Kanangorok hot spring. Here a number of animals like the east African big five can be seen wandering around as well as birds like the Ostriches. After return to the lodge for refreshment, breakfast and lunch and use the afternoon for a cultural experience that will get you in touch with the Karimajong people at Karenna and Kapedo. Mix together and have a chat with the local elders and they will show you their animal kraals, the grinding stones and many more good items. Day 3
Day 3: Game Drive-Kidepo valley natioal park

After breakfast, take another game drive where more animals and birds can be spotted Also enjoy the African landscape in Kidepo Valley National Park where your going to see Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. fulboard.

Day 4
Day 4:Kidepo-Kampala.

After breakfast visit the bird hide and have a guided nature walk. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch board your chartered flight back to Entebbe where you will be picked to Kampala in the evening. With road, you can have an overnight or drive to Mbale town for overnight and dinner and continue to Kampala the next morning with an option stopover to sights like source of the Nile and Bujagali falls, Itanda falls or Kalagala falls, Mabira forest reserve or Ssezibwa falls a river that was born by a women after the consultation of ancestral spiritual powers in a village Kawuna in Buikwe District.

Frequently asked Questions

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
