Since 2015 Visa fees for entry into Uganda have been reduced from $ 100 to $ 50

  • A certificate of yellow fever vaccination is required.
  • All visitors should take Malaria prophylactic drugs.
  • It is advisable to drink bottled rather than tap water.
  • The unit of currency is the Uganda shillings.
  • The US Dollar is traditionally the hard currency of preference.
  • The Euro and Pound sterling are also widely accepted.
  • Hard currency cash can be changed for local currency at the banks and private
    Forex bureaus in all large towns.
  • Traveler’s cheques are not widely accepted outside Kampala.
  • A valid Passport for at least six months from the date of entry.
  • Visa requirements also should be checked before you travel.
  • Carry a pair of binoculars and field guides.
  • Toiletries and others essentials can be bought in the cities.
  • English is the officially spoken language.
  • Luganda is widely used by many Ugandans.

  • Day time temperatures are generally warm to hot, so bring, Lots of light clothing.
  • Evenings are cooler, especially at high altitudes so bring, a couple of light sweaters too.
  • Travelers who intend to hike on the mountains will be exposed to alpine temperatures and are advised to pack accordingly:
    – solid walking shoes.
    -Sturdy clothing.

Both are ideal for forest walks, you can also bring along:  a hat, sunglasses, water proof jacket, etc.

NOTE:

  • Whoever wants to visit UGANDA is most welcome to visit at any time.
  • Mountain hikes, gorilla tracking, forest walks, are more challenging during the rains, which generally peak over mid-September to November and march to May every year.
